On December 26, 2013, Delta had a computer price glitch that offered tickets for as low as $12.83 and cross-country tickets for $40.

Within minutes, this “issue” hit social media and all major news agencies. Similar to Miley Cyrus’s performance with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Delta received a surfeit of publicity with this potential fiasco. The only difference was that no one really complained about taking advantage of the latter.

Whether Delta’s price glitch was a true computer error or marketing genius / ploy, it garnered a lot of attention and positive reinforcement, considering that Delta spokesperson said that they will honor the incorrectly priced tickets, per CNN Money.

In any event, bravo for Delta’s strategic management of the situation and bravo to those who managed to score tickets. I even tried to log onto Delta’s website. Alas, I was too late.

Stay merry,

P.S. How was your holiday week? Hope you had a bright and festive celebration!
