It’s a common belief among artists (and others) that less is more.
How do you explain that about Persian rugs? Any less detail would completely change its definition — these rugs are the paragon of complexity. And they are intricately beautiful.
Imagine if The Coronation of Napoleon (1807) by David Jacques-Louis only contained a single figure in the entire canvas. That would be nice as well, but egregiously wrong.
Just Enough is More
More is too much. Less is too little. Just enough is more.
I understand that many a time people get carried away, thus the proverb. I just want to clarify that it is in fact an inaccurate assumption.
